That's Not Your Business!

Joshua 2:14
So the men answered her, “Our lives for yours, if none of you tell this business of ours. And it shall be, when the lord has given us the land, that we will deal kindly and truly with you.

The ability to be able to hold confidential information is vitally important especially in the business world. We live in a very competitive business world where someone is always listening trying to see what the next big thing the next company is doing. Windows is listening to Mac. Russia is listening to America. The Patriots are filming Chicago. Everybody is trying to get in everybody’s business.

The New 3g Blackberry looks suspiciously like the I-Phone doesn’t it? Somebody at Verizon made it their business to know how the I-Phone worked. I was watching CNN the other night and one of the business panelist said that the trend is to look at what other successful businesses are doing and try to copy what they are doing, but in order to stand out, you need to radically differentiate your business by being innovative. But even with innovation you better make sure nobody tells your business.

The Israelites sent over some spies to spy out Jericho before they took possession of the land God had promised them. They hid in a prostitute’s house named Rahab because the watchmen caught a glimpse of them and they had already heard about how successful they had been in taking out enemy nations. When you are on a mission from God, God will use the most unlikely people to help you on your way. That’s why you can’t look down on anybody in your quest for success because they may be the person that saves your life while you walk into your destiny.

After they were clear Rahab told the spies she had heard how successful they Children of Israel had been and the fear of them had fallen over the Land. She wanted to know if she could get in on the merger before the take over. They told her if she could do a couple of things she would be a part of what God was getting ready to do:

1. Don’t tell our business. You remember when we were little and somebody was asking you to reveal something, and your response was “that’s none of your business.” That doesn’t involve you, you have no stock in this…We mess up future business opportunities by running our mouths too much and too early.

a. If you have business plans, don’t share them with anybody you can’t trust
b. Copyright, patent, incorporate, protect your plan
c. Don’t let your right hand know what your left hand is doing

2. Your investment of Loyalty will come back to you. There is something bigger than you that God has allowed you to come across, don’t leak out information that could hurt that movement.

3. Get everybody in your household in on the plan, but tell them to keep their mouth shut. The Spies told Rahab if she got her whole family in her house and tied a Red Ribbon on her window then when they took over the city, everybody in her house would be saved on the condition that they didn’t tell their business. Everybody in your house has to be financially, spiritually, and relationally accountable and confidential. Loose lips sink ships. Hold what you got and get everybody in the house saved!

Dear God, thank you for the inside information that my latter shall be greater. Thank you that every place I set my foot you will give it to me. You are about to expand my territory and I’m going to be a part of the takeover. Show me who I can trust with my business plans. Give me discernment as to who I can trust and who to avoid. I’m ready to be about my father’s business. May your will be done on earth as it is in Heaven.

In Jesus Name.

Amen.
