Is This The Right Time?

John 7:6 Therefore Jesus told them, “the right time for me has not yet come; for you any time is right.

If you are not careful people will talk you into something that you are not ready to get into. Many times the people who are pushing you are not pushing you out of support but out of curiosity. They are afraid to do what they are asking you to do but nevertheless are pushing you into something that you are equipped to do but are not ready to do. They want to see what will happen when you are “out there.” What’s confusing is that they are pushing you in the right direction but it may not be the right time.

There is a time for everything and you have to know what time it is. Malcolm X once said, “Never trust a man who doesn’t wear a watch.” As a leader you need to know what time it is. There is an internal clock that God gives us to know when it’s time to move into our destiny. Other people have their own clocks set by perception, anxiousness, and sometimes sabotage but you can’t go by their time because it will push you prematurely into a place that God has for you but has not prepared for you. Daryl Coley said, “He’s preparing me for something I can’t handle right now.”

When Jesus was nearing his “time” of crucifixion, he received death threats in Judea. It was the Passover and he purposely stayed away because of his death threats. His brothers urged him to go anyway because they thought he needed the “exposure” to be a “public figure.” The bible said his brothers didn’t even believe in him, meaning they didn’t understand his purpose. They were trying to make him into a celebrity instead of seeing him as their savior. They wanted to push him into a role that God didn’t even have assigned to him. They were riding off of his popularity without being sensitive to his risks. It’s always easy for people to push you into something when you are paying all the costs.

Don’t let people push you out too soon, not even your closest relatives.

1. Be clear on who you are and where you are going. If you don’t know where you are going people will create somewhere for you to go. Be clear before they put you “out there.”

2. Don’t operate by other people’s anxiousness. The bible says, “Be anxious for nothing.”

3. Don’t promote your self over your purpose. If it doesn’t have anything to do with your purpose then don’t waste your time no matter how popular or promising it looks.

4. Don’t let people with nothing to lose advise you on when to move. Jesus told his brothers, “For you any time is right.” For people that have nothing going for them and they are living vicariously through you any time is right. For people that are too afraid to walk in their own destiny anytime is right for you to move. Go by your own your watch that is set to God’s time.

5. Wait for God’s green light. There is an inner peace God will give you when it’s time to move. If you don’t have peace, don’t move.

Dear God, I want to move when the time is right. It might cost me everything to listen to the wrong people and move at the wrong time. Today, I’m waiting on you. When you say go I’ll be ready to move until then I’m still waiting on your green light. Because those that wait on the Lord will renew their strength. They will walk and not get weary; they will run and not faint. Thank you God, I’m ready when you are.

In Jesus Name,

Amen
