Matthew 22:8 The Wedding banquet is ready, but those I invited did not deserve to come. Go to the street corners and invite to the banquet anyone you find.
It was amazing to see all of the people trying to get a glimpse of the Royal wedding last week. People were camping out just to get close to the place where the Royal couple was. Could you imagine if you got a personal invitation to come to the wedding? An all expense paid trip to be special guest at the Royal wedding, would you go?
Every Sunday is an invitation to come be part of the Royal wedding banquet party celebrating the marriage between Jesus and the bride of Christ, his church. You have an all expense paid trip to paradise, purchased with the blood of Jesus. You will be seated in the heavenlies with angels. The invitation reads whosoever will let them come! but there are not that many people responding for some reason.
What are people doing with their invitations?
1. They pay no attention. People know they need to be at church to hear God's word, fellowship with other believers, and serve the body of Christ but they ignore the invitation. Other things or people have claimed their attention and attending the celebration on Sunday is no longer a priority.
2. They go to their field. Six days, we have to work and on the seventh we are to rest in worship. We have worked God out of our lifestyle. It used to be at times that everything centered around church but now church is our last option. When I was younger my mother would tell me if you can go out all night to hang with the devil you can get up and worship God on Sunday. Now when we get the invitation, we send back a tentative acceptance depending on how we feel that morning. I'm so glad Jesus felt like getting up after he was crucified.
3. The rest kill the messenger because they don't like the message. Paul told Timothy in 2 Timothy 4:3 The time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine, they will turn their ears away form the truth and turn aside to myths.
This Sunday is the Royal wedding rehearsal called Worship. You have been invited as a special guest of honor. what will you do with your invitation?
Dear God,
Thank you for letting me be a special guest at your banquet. I thank you that you not only invited me but you chose me to be in it. Glory to God! Thank you for looking beyond my faults and letting a commoner be a part of your royal priesthood, and your chosen generation. You are an awesome God, and I wouldn't miss it for the world!
In Jesus Name,
Amen
